Intake Cottage

“ Beautiful cottage in a stunning location with amazing views with the River Swale at the bottom of the garden. If you are looking for some quiet relaxation and a place to get away from it all then this is definitely the place for you. Beautiful walks nearby and a lovely cosy coal fire to enjoy in the evenings. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped- would definitely recommend. ”

“ If you like cosy, original and tasteful features plus amazing views, total peace and quiet, then this is the place for you. The cottage was as described on the sites but in reality being actually there was far more delightful. ”

“ Great views. Fab garden. Comfy beds. The pictures don't do it justice. Dorothy was very friendly and helpful. We wanted a break away from it all, so we weren't too disappointed by the lack of mobile reception, but it's something to be aware of. We were pleasantly surprised to find there was a freezer as we didn't see it in the list of amenities. ”

“ We had a very enjoyable stay at Intake Cottage. Dorothy was very helpful and friendly. The Cottage is very cosy and the kitchen is well-equipped. There's also a surprisingly effective coal fire for cold evenings. We had excellent weather for the whole week which meant we walked almost every day though we had planned to spend some time reading and relaxing in the cottage. We would definitely go again as one would never tire of the view. ”

“ Cottage is comfortable and cosy and the coal fire is lovely on an evening. You couldn't ask for a nicer outlook as from the back garden you can sit in the sun and look out over the fields and the river swale. There are lots of walks that you can do directly from the cottage and many others are close at hand. We had a meal and an evening at the kings head in gunnerside which was tasty and all were very welcoming. We would highly recommend Intake cottage and certainly we will be visiting again ”

“ A perfect Dales retreat. Spectacular views across the valley and a cosy little bolthole. Dorothy was a brilliant host and took the time to meet us and make sure we were settled in. Very comfortable bed and exceptionally quiet at night - so we both slept well. ”

“ Dorothy's cottage is in a great location with fantastic views over the valley. The property was very well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable; there was an open coal fire which we sat around in the evenings and watched TV. The cottage is a great location for walking, we did two walks, one from Muker to Keld via Kisdon and the other from Gunnerside up to the old lead mines. There are loads of places to eat out in local villages and there is The Punchbowl just down the road in Low Row. We had a delicious meal there on our first evening. Dorothy is a great host and was waiting for us when we arrived to show us around and give us loads of useful information. I am sure we will be back! ”

“ We have had a lovely time in the cottage albeit for the weather but the cosy fire more than made up for it plus delightful scenery. The cottage is beautiful and the real fire and scenery just made our weekend. Michael thought the fish and chips from the Dales van were the best he had ever tasted and we shall definitely put you on our tick list for a return visit. Cannot think of one possible thing we would have liked to change except the weather. Also thank you for the lovely warm welcome upon our arrival. ”

“ A warm and cosy cottage for our short winter break. Weather poor but it was lovely to return to a warm place and get the fire going. We enjoyed watching the activity on the bird feeders, particularly the long tailed tits of which there were many. We topped up the fat balls before we left. We must come back at a warmer time of year. ”
